RCR Tomlinson Limited (RCR) said that, with its joint venture partner Laing O’Rourke, it had received a contract for the design and construction of primary and secondary crushing facilities for BHP Billiton Limited (BHP). The engineering company said the value of the contract was around $150 million.
RCR Tomlinson said that design work would begin immediately, with contstruction expected to be completed by the start of 2011.
RCR CEO, John Noordhoek, said the contract award was a significant result for the joint venture.
“This announcement, together with the recent signing of a strategic supply agreement with BHP Billiton Iron Ore for the supply of apron feeders for the next 5 years on new projects, provides the opportunity to continue to strengthen our valued relationship with BHP Billiton Iron Ore," Mr Noordhoek said.
“Our ability to continue winning new work from blue chip clients in the current climate is a testament to the strength and quality of our broad product and service offering.”
At 1053 AEST, RCR Tomlinson shares were up 3c to 41c.
